2023 Toyota GR86 Special Edition Review
The darker color in the stainless-steel GR cat-back exhaust is the first hint that a GR86 Special Edition is coming soon. It will then be adorned with the stunning Solar Shift orange paint that is exclusive for this model. Like the premium GR86 Grade which it’s based, this Special Edition runs upon Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires which are covered by aluminum wheels that measure 18 inches. The wheels are custom-built and an ebony black finish. The black stripe of graphic design on C-pillars, and the black duckbill spoiler, complement those black aerodynamic parts and the black-chrome exhaust tips and are contrasted by an orange-colored paint. The Special version comes with an interior that is Ultrasuede and leather. It’s essentially identical to GR Premium’s cabin however by the addition of GR Special Edition badges.
This 2.4-liter four-cylinder boxer remains unchanged with 228 horsepower and 184 lb-feet of torque. It’s available with manual or automatic versions of the gearbox with six speeds which drive the rear axles. Each year, 2023 GR86 comes with one year of complimentary National Auto Sport Association membership that includes a performance-driven driving experience as well as discounts on NASA authorized events that go over.
It also has its GR cats-back exhaust along with stainless steel tips. According to the company, it produces an “edgier sound” and although we’ve not tested the two-door Toyota Coupe to the racetrack similar to what we did with the 2023 GR Corolla version We’ll take their word for it. The rear design includes a snarky duckbill spoiler as well as a subtle black graphic in the C-pillar. It’s all set on 18-inch matte black forged alloy wheels which make a statement against the distinct orange-colored scheme. In contrast to the standard GR86 that is mounted on 17-inch wheels featuring spokes with 10 spokes that are covered with Michelin Primacy HP rubber, this exclusive edition GR86 model is based on the highest grade GR86 comes mounted upon standard 18-inch, 10-spoke black alloy wheels equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires.
It is true that we do not have second-generation cars that behave with similar features, however, it’s apparent that Gazoo Racing utilized the brand new 2.4L to the fullest extent. The 2023 GR86 Special Edition based on the Premium quality gives us an occasion for us to remember. In case we forget.
